Modern East Danforth Addition
The clients of this East Danforth home wanted to expand their living space and create a new principal bedroom to capture views out over Small’s Creek. The existing home had already been renovated, so it was important to preserve the work that had already taken place.
Carefully removing the roof structure of an old single-storey addition, a new volume was carefully placed around the existing kitchen, leaving the kitchen at the heart of the main floor. The extended footprint of the home creates a more defined series of interior and exterior spaces perfect for entertaining, with room for intimate groups to gather separately, or a larger group to come together. A deep window well at the rear ensures the new lower level also shares a close relationship with the backyard and ravine.
